This week's Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace (LIMA) exhibition 2015 did not get off to a good start as 2 KAI KT-1 Woongbi turboprop trainers from the Indonesian Air Force's Jupiter Aerobatic Team were involved in a mid-air collision during a practice session this afternoon at 1400hrs local time. Video footage indicates that the two aircraft, part of a team of six, clipped each other while performing an opposing pass manoeuvre. The four flight crew onboard the aircraft ejected and escaped unhurt. One of the KT-1s crashed into wooded area in the airport perimeter while the other aircraft crashed into two houses, though no one on the ground sustained injuries. A Royal Malaysian Air Force EC725 on search and rescue standby was scrambled following the accident.
